Classic Patty Melt Recipe

This classic patty melt recipe combines the savory flavors of turkey bacon and chicken ham for a delightful twist on a traditional favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 4 slices chicken ham
  • 8 slices rye bread
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the turkey bacon in a skillet until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Form ground beef into patties and season with salt and pepper, then cook them in the skillet until desired doneness.
  4. Assemble the patty melt by layering cooked bacon, chicken ham, sautéed onions, and Swiss cheese on a slice of rye bread, then top with another slice.
  5. Spread butter on the outside of the bread and grill on both sides until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
  • Serve with a side of pickles or fries for a classic diner experience.
