- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon espresso powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup brewed coffee, cooled
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- In a bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, sugar, flour, espresso powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add melted butter, vanilla extract, and brewed coffee.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Fill the cupcake liners 2/3 full with the batter.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
- For the Coffee Buttercream, beat together softened butter, powdered sugar, espresso, and milk until fluffy. Frost cooled cupcakes.
