Southern Style Slow Cooker Mac & Cheese - The Frugal Ginger

A creamy and delicious Southern style mac and cheese with the added flavor of turkey bacon.

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can condensed cheddar cheese soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 ounces cooked turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, cheddar cheese, sour cream, cheddar cheese soup, milk, turkey bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt.
  3. Pour the mixture into a slow cooker and cook on low for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once the mac and cheese is hot and creamy, serve warm.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • Leftover mac and cheese can be reheated in the microwave with a splash of milk to restore creaminess.
